Emme Porter, Bruce Porter Jr receive Public Service Award from the Department of Justice for help in the DC United soccer player Charlie Davies crash
Emme Porter and Bruce Porter Jr the owners of “EmmeGirls Models, Marketing and Events” and Social Networks Manager™ are pleased to announce they have received a Public Service Award from the Department of Justice. On May 13th, 2011 Emme and Bruce Porter Jr joined an esteemed group of some of the best law enforcement officials in the country at the 2011 Public Service Awards. The award was for their help in the famed DC United soccer player, Charlie Davies car crash on Oct 13th, 2009. The following excerpt is from the actual case synopsis:
“In the early morning hours of October 13, 2009, Maria Espinoza left a Washington, DC, nightclub and drove on the the GW Memorial Parkway, a road she was unfamiliar with. She was speeding and driving with a blood alcohol concentration nearly twice the legal limit. Further distracted by her GPS device, she lost control of her car and crashed into a bridge abutment. The force of the impact ripped her Infinity SUV in half. Ashley Roberta, 22, the front seat passenger was killed by the impact. World class soccer athlete Charlie Davies, 23, was the back seat passenger and sustained life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The half of the vehicle containing the passengers had rolled down an embankment into heavy brush. The half containing the driver remained on top of the bridge.
Bruce and Emme Porter were driving home when they came upon the crash scene. Stepping into the roles of good Samaritans, Bruce went down the embankment, locating and assessing the condition of the occupants while Emme activated 911. The location was dark and difficult to find. However, the quick action by the Porter’s resulted in prompt emergency response by US Park Police and other local fire and rescue, which in turn was the “critical hour” needed to save Charlie Davies.
The USPP personnel reflected above were instrumental in securing the crash scene, responding to the life threatening situation and/or development of evidence critical to a successful prosecution of Espinoza for charges of involuntary manslaughter and DWI maiming.”
